Project Overview
BrainTouch is an outcome of the BrainUp Research Lab's dedication to developing and researching EEG devices and applications for decoding visual brain-computer interface (BCI). With a strong focus on innovation and excellence in scientific research, the lab strives to bring societal benefits by uncovering new breakthroughs at the convergence of these disciplines, ultimately enhancing people's quality of life. From initial product definition to aligning architectural requirements, software and hardware development, algorithm design, prototyping, and iterative improvements, this project spanned a remarkable 10-month journey, culminating in the creation of the BrainTouch R&D kit.

This wearable BCI product system utilizes the visual BCI paradigm to pioneer a brain-controlled interaction technology tailored for the next generation of XR applications. It offers a seamless and intuitive form of interaction, enabling users to free their hands or engage in collaborative tasks effortlessly. The system comprises a comprehensive developer's kit called BrainTouch SDK, empowering the XR development community to unlock its full potential. Additionally, it features an open data platform (BrainTouch Lab) and APIs that are accessible to the visual BCI/HCI research community, thereby making visual brain-computer interaction research more accessible and removing barriers to entry. BrainTouch Device Design
The figure below illustrates the requirements of the product system derived from user research and product definition, which lead to a bunch of corresponding design challenges. To tackle these challenges, the team conducted a lot of iterations and simulation tests to find out the optimal solutions.
